He is still going! 7.45am

There were moments when we thought Chris wasnt going to make it. He needed to apply industrial amounts of anti-imflammatory gel to his shins and thighs. He said it felt like a cheese grater was attacking them. And he wasnt the only one who was in pain. Every runner we have passed this morning is running with a grimace and at 7.30 when we reached the 100 mile mark at least three dropped out. All of the buddy runners have done 10 miles and now Matthew is on his 19 mile leg

  1. You probably want to put some of that stuff on your head to fend off the cheese graters. Dig deep Chris.

  5. This is a posting from Team Webb:
"It is with deep regret that Team Webb announces Chris' retirement from the race after 123 miles. He had been suffering with sore shins since the early hours of Sunday morning and manfully persevered through what became excruciating pain, eventually deciding to call it a day at approximately 14:00 hrs. His decision was not taken lightly and he is extremely disappointed to have got so far yet been prevented from finishing by injury. The 22 degree heat didn't help either and also saw off over half of the race's participants at various points before and after Chris' last mile. Team Webb would like to congratulate Chris on what remains a remarkable acheivement and to say that they are proud to have supported him through one of the toughest challenges of his life.... It was a truly unique experience and one none of us is keen to repeat! It has been fantastic however, and we would like to say thank you to all those who have supported us by logging on and following our progress. We are all now enjoying hot showers and comfy hotel rooms. Finally, we will be posting photos of the race very soon so please come back and have a look when you get a chance. Thanks again everyone.
